The HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid is the latest nationally accredited unit that describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

Language, literacy and numeracy requirements are needed to undertake this course. Specifically, students need the ability to:
*Learners who do not meet the LLN requirements of the course may still enrol into the course provided the enrolment has been endorsed by the trainer and corresponding additional support strategies have been put in place.
Physical attributes requirements
Each of the units of competency that this strategy applies to specifies that students must, among other things, be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor, in order to be deemed as competent. They also must be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles both compressions and ventilations) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.
Students must also be able to perform manual handling tasks safely.
